Robert F. Lahrman, 87, of Brownstown, passed away on November 30, 2016 at the Schneck Medical Center, Seymour, IN.
Mr. Lahrman was a 1947 graduate of Brownstown High School and a 1951 graduate of Purdue School of Forestry. The Lahrman family was recently been recognized as a Hoosier Homestead Farm for having kept their farm in the same family for over 100 years. Mr. Lahrman raised cattle and operated Lahrman’s Produce Market from 1951-2007. He entered his melons in the Indiana State Fair some won the largest melon award for several times. He was also the first building commissioner in Jackson County from 1969-1979. He was a teacher at Cortland Schools for 5 years beginning in 1957. He enjoyed hunting and playing golf. He was a charter member of the Hickory Hills Golf Club and a lifetime member of the Brownstown United Methodist Church.
Born on September 2, 1929 in Jackson County, he was the son of Chesley W. Lahrman and Jessie (Garis) Lahrman. On June 23, 1951 he married Helen Hamer and she survives.

6 grandchildren: Ericka Nolan, Katharine Lahrman, Elizabeth Lahrman, Phillip Zachary Gamble, Lute Lahrman and Jackson Lahrman
5 great grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by a daughter Deborah Lynn Gamble and a grandson , Carter Gamble, Jr. and his sister, Virginia Woods
Visitation: Friday, December 2, 2016 at the Winklepleck-Weesner Funeral Home in Brownstown from 4-8 pm.
Friends may call on Saturday morning at the Brownstown United Methodist Church from 10-11 A.M.
