Kimberly Ann (Kidwell) SchrinkSeptember 27, 1962 ~ September 1, 2016 (age 53)
A gigantic party was held in Heaven on the morning of September 1, 2016 upon the arrival of Kimberly Ann Schrink. Anxious to attend her party, she left us after a short 53 years. She was born on September 27, 1962 to Douglas C. Kidwell and Mary L. (Hawkins) Kidwell. She was a life-long resident of Brownstown, Indiana.
After graduating from Brownstown Central High School in 1980, she married the love of her life, Jimmy D. Schrink on October 3, 1981. She was a loving wife and shortly after they married became the best mother to their two girls, Courtney (George) Leonard and Cori Sulinski (both of Bloomington). Her life was devoted to raising their girls and making sure she taught them what it meant to be a good Christian and part of a loving family. Kim’s heart was at its fullest when she was in the company of her family, but her heart became overflowing with love and joy when she became Mimi to her two grandsons, Jack and Brady Leonard.
Kim’s life was always active and full of love. She started working for The Brownstown Banner right out of high school until she decided she would become a stay-at-home mom to her girls. Not wanting to cut her ties completely from the work force, she continued with fill-in roles around the community when needed. Working part-time for the newspaper, as a part-time aide at Brownstown Central Elementary School and a babysitter to many. She volunteered at the Brownstown Christian Church, where she was a life-long member and taught Sunday School for many years. She also was very active, along with Jim, on the PTO and the Brownstown Girls Softball League. It wasn’t until taking a full-time position with the Indiana Division of Family and Resources that she felt she knew her calling in the work force. As a second-generation employee, she followed in her mother’s footsteps serving the community in this capacity. She worked more than 20 years as a clerk, case manager, and later became a State Eligibility Manager for the Lawrence, Martin, Washington, and most recently Jackson and Brown Counties.
Kim wore her heart on her sleeve and wanted everyone to feel loved and welcome when coming into her home. She was a great friend and became a second "mom" to many throughout her life. She knew and cared for all of her girls’ friends. Kim was the "hostest with the mostest" for many birthday parties, slumber parties, and so much more for her girls. She often had kids stopping by her home even when her girls were gone, just to say hi! Then, she started it all over again when her grandsons were born. Kim rarely missed a sporting or school event of her grandsons and thoroughly enjoyed every child and parent she encountered while in attendance. And for the past ten and half years, she felt as though she was a second "grandparent" to many as well.
Kim is survived by her father and step-mother, Doug and Sandi Kidwell of Brownstown; daughter and son-in-law, Courtney and George Leonard of Bloomington; daughter, Cori Sulinski of Bloomington; two grandsons, Jack and Brady Leonard of Bloomington; one sister, Pam Kidwell-Dunnells of Brownstown; and two brothers, Mark Kidwell and Clark Kidwell both of Greenwood.
Kim is preceded in death by her husband Jimmy D. Schrink of Brownstown and her mother, Mary L. Kidwell of Brownstown.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 5, 2016 at the Brownstown Christian Church, 702 W. Spring St. Brownstown, Indiana. The funeral service will begin at 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM with Pastor Michael Dean Hawkins officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Fairview Cemetery in Brownstown. Memorials may be made to Saint Charles Borromeo School in Kim’s name where she enjoyed watching her grandson’s grow in their faith and relationship with God or to the Brownstown Christian Church.
